Volunteers will be hitting the sidewalks of Downtown Duluth and Canal Park this week as part of an annual tradition of planting flowers to beautify the business district.
More than 60 streetscape planters are sitting empty on the sidewalks, waiting for helping hands to fill them with colorful flowers. Volunteers will focus on Superior Street on Wednesday, and Canal Park on Thursday.
Downtown Duluth coordinates the effort and purchases the flowers, while the organization’s Clean & Safe Team maintains the planters throughout the summer season.
Volunteers will meet at the corner of 5th Avenue West and Superior Street near the Ordean Plaza on Wednesday, June 7 to plant flowers along Superior Street. On Thursday, volunteers should report to the Northwest Iron Parking Lot at the corner of Buchanan Street and Lake Avenue to plant flowers for Canal Park. – Press release
